Price Of Gas Increases As Warmer Weather Approaches
Sonora, CA — Gas prices continue to increase in California as the state is transitioning to the more environmentally friendly summer blend mix.
AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.77 in California, which is up 28-cents from a month ago. That said, it is less expense than this time last year, when the average was $3.10.
AAA Northern California spokesperson Cynthia Harris says, “State pump prices are likely to fluctuate as the supply of summer-blend gasoline continues to make its way to terminals statewide.”
Gas stations started selling summer blend on April 1st. It reduces the air pollution in warmer temperatures, but is more expense to produce.
Harris adds, “The restart of the ExxonMobil’s Torrance, California refinery means the gasoline market is poised to be well supplied as we enter the busy summer driving season. Barring any major disruptions or shortages in supply, the above factors may keep pump prices relatively steady in the coming weeks.”
The myMotherLode.com gas price section shows regular unleaded is selling in Sonora from $2.49 to $2.75 and in San Andreas from $2.53 to $2.89.
