San Andreas, CA — A local volunteer group is working to help rebuild homes for those who were uninsured or underinsured.

At a meeting next week, Calaveras Recovers will unveil plans for the first two homes it plans to build in the Butte Fire burn scar. The organization is seeking help from agencies, groups and individuals that can offer skilled labor, supplies and other items. Local architect Mike Borean has a developed a design for the homes and Phillip Miller, a licensed building contractor, will be the lead contractor.  The local Mennonite congregation has agreed to be the lead crew.

More details will be released Monday at 9am at a meeting at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints Hall at 221 Church Hill Road in San Andreas.

President of the all-volunteer Calaveras Recovers, Allen Sender, says, “We are excited to finally get started on these two homes. We hope the agencies and other groups who want to be involved will attend.”

Calaveras Recovers operates under the 501C(3) sponsorship of the Amador Community Foundation.
