Update: New Details Released On Mono Way Truck Accident
Update at 5:30pm: The CHP reports new information regarding the overturned logging truck on Mono Way that had officers diverting traffic for about three hours. The accident happened around 8:30am, where the roadway intersects with the Highway 108 bypass in East Sonora. The CHP says the truck driver 61-year-old David Huggins of Soulsbyville, driving for Scott Timber Contracting out of Mi-Wuk, had a equipment malfunction on his 1995 Kenworth semi. Sgt.  Randy Matyshock states, “The logging truck was making a right turn…It appears one of the logging racks broke free from the trailer, which caused the securement chains to break. The logs rolled off the truck causing the cab to tip over as well.”
Huggins was not injured. The roadway was shut down for three hours, traffic was diverted at Hess Avenue and Standard Road, as tow crews removed the debris.
Update at 12:10am: The CHP reports that Mono Way has re-opened and traffic is moving freely.
Update 9:40AM: The CHP estimates the road will be closed until  around 12:45pm
Original story posted at 9am: Sonora, CA — A logging truck has overturned on Mono Way near the area where it intersects with the Highway 108 bypass in East Sonora.
Mono Way is closed near the accident site, and traffic is being turned around by law enforcement officials. Traffic is still moving freely from east to west on the Highway 108 bypass, so that is the alternate route. It is not immediately clear how long Mono Way will be closed due to the accident. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
