Crowd Anticipated For Dollar General Hearing

Sponsored by:

Columbia, CA — Tonight is when the Tuolumne County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the planned Dollar General Store in Columbia.

It has been a contentious project, and an opposition group has formed against the proposal. It is noted that the county received around 200 letters from the public about the project. Due to the anticipated large crowd, the meeting will be held at the Church of the 49ers in Columbia. It will get underway at 6pm. County staff members will begin the hearing by giving an overview of the proposal. The commissioners will then have the opportunity to pose questions to staff, and immediately following that, members of the public will get the chance to weigh in.

Following the hearing, the planning commission is expected to vote on whether to issue a Site Development Permit and a Conditional Use Permit regarding the construction of the 9,100 square foot store, the installation of signage, and a 40-space parking lot.
