A Solo Crash Turns Tragic

Sponsored by:

Twain Harte, CA – The CHP reports a 69-year-old Twain Harte man involved in a solo accident has died as a result of his injuries.

As previously reported, the crash happened at 10:25 a.m. on Lizzie Court near Gurney Station Road in Twain Harte. The CHP reports the man was leaving his home and was getting into his parked 2005 Jeep Wrangler when it started to roll backwards down the driveway dragging the man who was half way in the vehicle.

The Jeep went across Lizzie Court onto the dirt shoulder colliding with a large boulder and a PG&E transformer box. The CHP reports the victim was hanging from the vehicle door when it crashed into the box bending the door backwards and pinning the man. The man was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.  His name is not being released pending notification of family.

PG&E was on scene and turned off the electricity to customers in the immediate area while crews made repairs for more than two hours. The CHP reports neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
