TUD Holds Public Forums To Discuss Several Issues

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) announced it will be hosting a few public water forums over the next three weeks. T.U.D. spokesperson Lisa Westbrook says “they are free, open to the public, we are really trying to educate and engage the community.”

Westbrook was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

One water forum was held last night in Columbia at Columbia College. The next meeting will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at Soulsbyville School in the old gym from 6 – 8 pm. After that the next forum will be held Tuesday October 20th in the Summerville High School Auditorium from 6 – 8 pm and the final one takes place in the TUD Board Room on Monday October 26th from 6 – 8 pm.

Westbrook says the meetings provide plenty of updates and information regarding a wide array of issues. TUD will showcase planned water and sewer improvements. There will be plenty of conversation and a produced video will be shown. For those who have questions, answers will be provided.

One of the items that the public is most concerned about is the related costs with TUD’s plans and the potential rate changes.

Door prizes will be given to the first twenty-five attendees at each forum. Refreshements will be provided.

Westbrook commended Tuolumne County’s TUD customers by saying that the overall county has cut back water usage each month from thirty to thirty-six percent. Westbook also said that even if the rain and snow start early this year, the state mandated 25% cut in water usage will remain in effect until February 2016.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
