San Andreas, CA — The coroner’s office has released the identity of an Angels Camp resident whose remains were discovered in the remnants of a weekend fire.

According to Calaveras County Deputy Coroner Keith Rosa, following a fully involved early Saturday morning fire that destroyed a trailer at 10627 MJB Ranch Road, off Pool Station Road, the lifeless body of a person, later identified as 70-year-old Clyde Henry Cooley was discovered.

As previously reported, the fire call came in around 3:11 a.m. Saturday. After arriving at the end of MJB Ranch Road where a trailer was fully engulfed in flames, firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which had also spread to approximately a half-acre of surrounding vegetation. Rosa indicates that nothing was left of the trailer and it was in the ashes that the body was discovered around 3:52 a.m.

The fire is still under investigation and Rosa confirms that an autopsy is still pending.
