Update: Summer Heat Arrives Thursday
Hot weather returns this week with widespread triple digits expected in the Central Valley by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, the hottest days of the week are expected to be Thursday and Friday. Central Valley temperatures will range from 100 to 112 degrees this Thursday and Friday.
Heat-related illnesses and impacts are possible and/or likely if actions are not taken. Extra heat precautions should be made for outdoor events and outdoor workers.
Moisture spreading northward Friday into Saturday will bring the potential for mostly afternoon and evening mountain thunderstorms with lightning, but with limited rainfall initially. A few isolated thunderstorms may spread over the Mother Lode. A transition to wetter mountain storms is possible each afternoon and evening from Sunday into Monday.
The hot and dry conditions will be priming fuels for enhanced fire danger. The initially dry thunderstorms (with lightning) could cause fire starts.
