T.U.D. Will Address Budget Deficit And New Connections
Sonora, CA — Plans to increase water rates could be incorporated into T.U.D.’s 2016 fiscal year budget.
Meeting documents ahead of Tuesday’s meeting indicate that there is a roughly $1-million shortfall when you combine the water and sewer funds. Outgoing General Manager Tom Scesa is recommending that the district pass the budget, but also quickly begin the required Proposition 218 process needed to pass a rate increase. As reported previously, T.U.D.’s water rates are lower than many other surrounding districts.
T.U.D. will also discuss plans to add 21 homes to its system, which have recently experienced well failures. They are in the areas of Horseshoe Bend Road, Saratoga Road, Draper Mine Road and Davis Flat Road. The State of California is offering T.U.D. drought relief funding totaling $182,919 to cover the costs of the project.
In addition, the Board will vote on an agreement to provide water and sewer services for the Derby Court Development in Jamestown. The project was approved earlier this year by the county and includes 19 lots.
Tuesday’s meeting starts at 5:30pm in the T.U.D. meeting room.
