Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — 63 California companies could receive tax credits designed to boost employment in the state.

It will be on the agenda this afternoon at Governor Jerry Brown’s Office of Business and Economic Development committee meeting. $50-million is available, and the largest amount, $15-million is proposed to go to electric car maker Tesla Motors. By offsetting taxes, the state reports that it would allow the company to hire 4,440 additional workers and purchase needed equipment and property.

A wide range of companies are in line to receive tax credits. Most are in the more populated areas like Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. There are not any in the Mother Lode region. The closest nearby companies are based in Stockton and Turlock. You can find the complete list on the meeting agenda, which is posted here.
