Fire Related Issues On Supervisors Agenda

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County leaders will talk further about a grant related to Rim Fire, and the increasing cost of fire insurance for property owners.

The Supervisors will vote whether to send a formal letter of intent to participate in HUD’s National Resilience competition, related to the Rim Fire. As reported previously, up to $500-million could be available, post Rim Fire, for projects that help the community rebuild, and try to prevent, future disasters. The Board will also offer comments on the initial draft application that’s been completed.

In addition there will be discussion about a work plan that hopes to address rising fire insurance costs facing many property owners. The county will also hear the latest information about the drought, and vote to extend the current drought State of Emergency declaration. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am.
