Angels Camp To Discuss Zoning And Closures
Angels Camp, CA – Tuesday, the City of Angels City Council will address recent changes in state housing and zoning laws and temporary street closure requests for upcoming special event activities.
Beginning at 6 p.m., the Council will open its doors for its public meeting. Among the items on its regular agenda are a public hearing to discuss the state Zone Ordinance Text Amendment (ZOTA) and amending chapters that reflect new state policies and programs, the adoption of which would make the city eligible to receive various state and federal assistance funds for related General Plan implementations. Two of the ordinances that will be under discussion outline procedures for moderate, lower and very low-income housing, senior households, and persons with disabilities. The third ordinance involves the addition of new provisions, definitions and zoning allowances to support emergency shelter, family, supportive and transitional housing elements
The council will hear a request from the Mark Twain Badger Boosters for the temporary closure of Highway 49 in the downtown historic district and surrounding streets for its second annual Angels Camp 5K/10K Gold Run, scheduled for Sept. 27. The organization is additionally asking that the city waive approximately $2,000 in employee labor fees in support of the event. The council will look at resolutions to establish a nuisance abatement fee and approve abatement costs for mitigating potential fire hazard and public nuisance costs affecting four city parcels.
The council, on its consent agenda, expects to authorize the submission of a grant application to the state Dept. of Water Resources for flood emergency response projects and formally adopt recent revisions to the Central Sierra Economic District Joint Powers Agreement. Also slated for formal consent are resolutions to close a portion of downtown Highway 49 for Gold Rush Day 2015 festivities on Oct. 17, and authorize the annual Youth Parade.
Ahead of its public meeting at 5:30 p.m., the council, in a closed session, has scheduled to confer with Mark Twain Medical Center over price and terms of payment for the 200 Monte Verda property, which currently houses city police and planning offices.
