Tuolumne County Transit Eyes Notable Projects
View VideoSonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Transit Agency submitted a grant request that could help purchase a building in downtown Sonora, and heard an update on plans for a transit hub at the Law and Justice Center site.
The Transit Agency is hoping to receive money to purchase the needed property, and develop a Northern Yosemite Regional Transit Access Center in downtown Sonora. The agency is still in negotiations regarding the property sale, but has submitted a request in hopes of receiving $2.7 million from the Federal Lands Access Program. There would also be an 11.4% local match required, if approved. TCTA hopes to learn in the next few months if it will receive the grant money. The Transit Agency is also partnering with Tuolumne County to construct a $1.3 million transit hub at the site of the future law and justice center, off Old Wards Ferry Road. There is not a construction schedule finalized at this time, but as you can see in the above left image, the preliminary site plan, and building design, has been completed.
Both items were discussed at a Transit Agency meeting held Wednesday afternoon in downtown Sonora.
