Pollock Pines, CA — The King Fire northeast of Sacramento is up to 43% containment, and it has grown to 95,347 acres.
The cost to fight the fire is now over $50 million. It is the second priciest fire to fight so far this season, ranking only behind the $86 million spent to battle a still burning fire in the Klamath National Forest.
It’s well behind the $127 million used to fight last year’s Rim Fire.
Around 8,000 firefighters are assigned to the King Fire. Â The flames have destroyed 12 homes and several outbuildings.
Rain is expected in the area later today.
