Cost Hike In Meadow Fire

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — The Meadow Fire in Yosemite National Park is now 4,960 acres, an increase of 27 acres from yesterday. The containment remains at 50%, but the cost to battle the blaze has jumped to nearly $3.3 million.

Yosemite Officials say one firefighter injured his knee overnight, but it is a minor injury. 570 firefighters remain on the scene. Fire Officials report the fire’s growth was in the southeast portion of the burn area, where a small burnout operation took place overnight.

The Half Dome cables re-open today, but many trails remain closed. All roads are open this weekend heading in and out of Yosemite.

The fire was sparked by lightning and was first spotted on August 15. Park officials hope to have full containment by September 21.
