Teen Works Receives $30,500 Grant

Sonora, CA — Over $50,000 was recently given to area non-profits by the Sonora Area Foundation.

The largest grant, $30,540, was allocated to Teen Works. The mentoring program is for youths between the ages of 12-19. The funding will help expand administrative and program services to help meet this growing demand in the community.

$15,000 was given to We Care Sober Living and Recovery Homes, in support of its Sonora area facility. It will go towards transitional housing for people in recovery, those that are homeless, or residents with mental illness.

$5,168 was awarded to Sierra Hope to help pay for utilities and services provided to program participants in three units of permanent supportive housing in Tuolumne County. Sierra Hope recently assumed the responsibility of the contract for the units, and the grant funds that will help respond to revised requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Sonora Area Foundation was established in 1990 and is the largest community foundation in Tuolumne County. It regularly provides grants to fulfill community needs.
