State Approves Medical Ballot Measure

Sacramento, CA — A ballot measure focused on medical lawsuits, and physician drug testing, will go before California voters in November.
The Secretary of State’s office says the proponent, listed as Robert S. Pack, has received the needed 504,670 signatures, and it has qualified for the ballot. If approved, it would require drug and alcohol testing of doctors, and positive results would need to be reported to the California Medical Board. It would also require doctors to report any other doctor suspected of drug or alcohol impairment, or medical negligence. In addition, it would increase the current $250K cap on medical negligence lawsuits to account for inflation.
The California General Election is November 4.
