Kathleen “Katie” Ann McEntire, age 54 of Carlsbad, California  (a frequent visitor to Tuolumne County to see parents)

Born September 3, 1967 in Watertown, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Best Western Hotel in Sonora, California. It is the family’s belief she wished to accompany Andrew McEntire, her nephew, on to heaven. Kate came screaming into this world on September 3, 1967 to parents William and Suzanne McEntire in Watertown, Wisconsin. She was raised in the Bay Area, and then went on to study at Stanislaus State University. In 1992 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. Degree in hand she was able to participate in the creation of the Head Start program in Jamestown, California, from its infancy stage. She spent many years there as both a teacher and an administrator. Having no children of her own, Kate’s students held a special place in her heart.

Later, life on the Pacific coast called to her and she relocated to Carlsbad, California. Her love of helping people of all ages led her to pursue a second career, this time in massage therapy. She worked for several years in various physical therapy offices in and around the San Diego area. She fell in love with the Southern California coast and spent much of her free time at the beach. Kate was a paddleboard enthusiast and enjoyed frequent outings to the salty water and sandy beaches. A compassionate soul, and a generous giver, Kate also enjoyed volunteering in her local community. She gave to the Wounded Warrior Project and participated in Walk for the Cure. She donated to the Cystic Fibrosis and Bikes for Kids Foundations. Kate is survived by her parents, William and Suzanne McEntire of Sonora, her brother Christopher of Twain Harte, her sister Karen, brother-in-law Jeffrey, and her 4 nieces of Truckee. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the worthy non-profit organizations Kate was so passionate to support.
