Airola Fire Remains In Check, All Evacuations Lifted
Update at 7:30 p.m.: The Airola Fire burning in Calaveras County near the Parrotts Ferry Road bridge remains 700 acres with the containment climbing from 35 to 50%. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore details, “Firefighters worked tirelessly today towards increased containment and will continue to strengthen containment lines, conduct mop-up operations and patrol.”
Resources on scene include 16 engines, and 4 water tenders, hand crews and dozers. As reported below all remaining evacuation warnings were lifted at 8 p.m. Friday.
Update at 4:15 p.m.: Fire crews are making progress on the Airola Fire burning in Calaveras County near the Parrotts Ferry Road bridge. Fire officials report that all evacuation warnings will be lifted at 8 p.m. The blaze remains at 700 acres and 35% contained.
Original post written by BJ Hansen at 10:38 a.m.: Vallecito, CA — There was no growth overnight on the Airola Fire in Calaveras County.
It is 700 acres and 35-percent contained. Officials are still investigating the cause. Parrotts Ferry Road is back open near the fire area.
All of the earlier evacuation orders have been downgraded to warnings. In addition, there are still evacuation warnings in place for the towns of Murphys and Douglas Flat, according to CAL Fire. The other warnings in effect are for all of Parrotts Ferry Road from the Tuolumne/Calaveras county line at Parrotts Ferry Bridge to Highway 4 (including Moaning Cavern and Camp Nine Road areas). In addition, east of Red Hill Road to Parrotts Ferry Road.
No structures have been destroyed there have been no injuries.
