Update: Vehicle Versus Trees Crash In Sonora

Update at 5:45 p.m.: The CHP released more details and the identity of the driver involved in a Sonora collision where a vehicle went off the roadway and flipped upside down in trees.

The driver, 47-year-old Elizabeth Brown of Sonora, was traveling about 35-40 mph in her 1996 GEO Prism westbound on Longeway Road, east of Phoenix Lake Road. The CHP  detailed that for an undetermined reason, Brown’s vehicle drifted over double yellow lines and off the roadway. It then traveled up an embankment and overturned, landing on its roof and wedged between two trees. First responders had to free her from the car. She luckily suffered minor injuries.

Update at 2:30 p.m.:  The CHP reports that the wreckage has been cleared and luckily just minor injuries in a solo vehicle crash in Sonora. A white sedan went off the roadway and flipped upside down, landing on its roof in some trees on Longeway Road near Phoenix Lake Road and Belleview Elementary School. One person, the driver, was trapped inside and had to be freed by first responders. It remains unclear as to what caused the car to go off the roadway and an investigation is ongoing. The CHP reports neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.

Original post at 1:47 p.m.: Sonora, CA — First responders are on the scene of a solo vehicle crash in Sonora where a vehicle went off the roadway and flipped upside down, landing on its roof in some trees.

The collision happened on Longeway Road near Phoenix Lake Road and Belleview Elementary School. The CHP reports that the occupants are trapped inside the vehicle. An ambulance has been called to the scene but there is no word on injuries at this time. An update will be provided as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
