Film Makers And Actors Set Sights On Sonora

Sponsored by:

This weekend, film makers, directors, producers, sound technicians and actors will be gathering in a number of locations throughout downtown Sonora, CA.

Christina Wilkinson,  co-founder of the ITSA Film Festival, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The fourth annual ITSA Film Festival begins with a Gala event at the historic Opera Hall starting at 5:30pm with hors d’oeuvres and wine. There will be live music, films, discussion panel and special events until 11pm. Dance music will conclude the evening.

On Saturday, more films will be shown throughout the day at the Opera Hall. Various workshops will then be held at Cole Video and in the Sonora Inn Banquet Room with screenwriters, actors, directors and film producers. .

Finally on Sunday, more films shorts will be shown and the Festival concludes with an Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening.

The ITSA Film Festival has the backing of the Tuolumne County Film Commission and several local sponsors. According to Wilkinson, this is a perfect time of year for Sonora to play host to numerous people who can make an economic difference perhps by eventually scouting locations throughout Sonora.

“It’s purposefully held at the very beginning of November, just before the snow and the Holiday season,” said Wilkinson. “We used to have the Wild West Film Fest here and the ITSA Film Festival will help bring film makers and tourists back to the area. The Festival promotes what the area has to offer, brings in large names and showcases our creative and artistic students.”
