Sponsored by:

A cold weather system will impact Northern California from Sunday afternoon into Monday, bringing moderate snowfall to the Sierra Nevada.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Northern and Central Sierra Nevada above 3,000 feet, from 3 PM Sunday through 4 PM Monday.

The snow levels will be generally be around 3,000 feet, although light accumulations may be seen down to 2,000 feet by Monday morning.

The total snow accumulations above the 4,000 foot elevation, will range from three inches to one foot.

Plan on difficult travel conditions. Expect some mountain travel impacts such as delays, snow covered roads, low visibility and chain controls during this time.

If you plan to travel, consider alternate strategies. If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food, a good deal of water, and warm clothing in your vehicle.

A Winter Weather Advisory means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
