Senator’s Son Dies In Robbery Attempt

A state senator´s son was walking home with his girlfriend from a nearby friend´s house in San Francisco when a man jumped from behind a bush and fatally shot him.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports Hunter McPherson was shot in the upper torso after the man grabbed his girlfriend´s purse.
Police say the motive for the shooting appears to be robbery.
Republican Senator Bruce McPherson of Santa Cruz says Hunter was his mother´s “pride and joy and his father´s best friend.´´
Police are still searching for the suspect. Mayor Willie Brown has offered a ten-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
McPherson´s girlfriend, Alexa Savelle, was not injured in the incident.
