Sonoma Woman To Be Released

Sponsored by:

A Corona woman whose delusions caused her to murder her 17-month-old son will be released after two years in a

mental hospital.

A judge made the ruling after psychologists agreed that 36-year-old Lorean Valdez Sosa is no longer a threat to herself or others, and will benefit from supervised treatment at home.

Sosa though she was trying to save the life of her child when she stabbed him in the throat in 1994.

She was convinced that three men she saw at a bus stop were sent by her ex-boyfriend to abduct and molest her child.

In November 1995, she pleaded guilty to the crime and was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison, but the verdict was overturned on appeal in 1999, and she was sent to the Patton State Hospital for treatment.
