A Sony Pictures worker in Culver City is in the hospital after he opened an envelope containing a white
powdery substance.

Culver City police Lieutenant Dave Tankenson says the employee opened the envelope about 7:30 p.m. Friday and immediately
afterward, he went to Sony´s on-site medical clinic. Police officers and firefighters arrived at the studio and treated the event as a “hazmat, possible anthrax
situation.”

Tankenson says the employee, whose identity was withheld, was then taken to Brotman Memorial Hospital for observation and possible
treatment.

A hospital spokeswoman had no details and a Sony Pictures security officer had no comment. A message left for a Sony spokesperson
wasn´t returned.
