School Bus Windshield Hit By BB

Sponsored by:

No one was hurt when the windshield of Sonora Union High School District school bus was apparently shot this morning by a pellet or BB gun.

The shot hit the front windshield of the full-sized bus about 10 inches above the driver´s head. The safety glass cracked, but the projectile did not penetrate into the bus.

There was one student on board during the 7 a.m. shooting, which happened near Old Phoenix Lake Road.

Tuolumne County Sheriffs spokesman Lt. John Steely said the driver did not see any passing cars at the time or anyone else in the area.

Students on that bus route were picked up by a different bus, and both the California Highway Patrol and sheriff´s department are investigating the shooting.
