Davis And Simon On Campaign Trail

Sponsored by:

Governor Gray Davis and his Republican challenger Bill Simon are concentrating on farm areas of the state Sunday and Monday as they go into the final two weeks of the campaign. At a rally attended by about 500 students and farm workers at Coachella this afternoon incumbent governor Davis urged a get-out-the vote effort. He said, “I am asking you to work hard between now and November fifth.”

The Democratic governor’s rally at Coachella and another later in the day at Oxnard, are designed to attract support in rural, traditionally conservative areas. He already has strong farm workers´ support after signing a bill calling for binding arbitration in labor disputes between farm workers and their employers.

Republican nominee Simon has a bus tour through the Central Valley scheduled Monday. At the same time Davis will be in Northern California seeking rural and coastal area votes.
