Morgan Hill Fire Still A Problem

Sponsored by:

At least 15 homes are confirmed damaged or destroyed in a fire that´s burned more than 2,500 acres about 50 miles south of San Francisco. California Department of Forestry spokesman Steve Gasaway says CDF has surveyed about 30% of the damage from the fire. Of the 35 homes it checked, eleven were destroyed and four were damaged. 1500 firefighters are on the scene. Many are at the southeast end of the fire at the Santa Clara-Santa Cruz county line trying to halt its spread. Gasaway says the fire is also advancing north, toward Loma Chiquita. A state of emergency has been declared in Santa Clara County and some residents have been ordered to evacuate. Gasaway says the estimated containment for the fire depends on the success of operations overnight.
