Good Progress In SoCal Fires

Sponsored by:

Firefighters have fully contained a wildfire burning in a mountainous area of Glendale. Glendale Fire Captain Thomas Marchant says firefighters are now in the “mop-up” stages, to prevent the blaze from flaring again. About 100 firefighters remain on the lines. The blaze has been labeled suspicious, although the cause remains under investigation. Marchant says six firefighters and one police officer were treated for heat exhaustion or injuries, including one who was bitten by red fire ants.

Meanwhile, firefighters have nearly surrounded a 19,500-acre blaze in the Angeles National Forest north of Azusa. It is 90% contained with full containment expected by tonight. Investigators believe that fire was sparked by candles used in an animal sacrifice.
