More Security At State Fair

Sponsored by:

Security measures will be increased at this year´s California State Fair, paralleling efforts around the country as the one-year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks nears.

Fair visitors will pass through security lanes as they walk toward the entrances. Security officers will inspect backpacks, purses, ice chests, diaper bags, strollers, wagons and anything else that can serve as a weapons container.

Specially trained officers will also inspect vehicles as they enter the fairgrounds, using mirrors to look at the underside of trucks and going inside to check cargo. Visitors will also not be allowed to bring firearms, explosives, alcohol, and glass containers.

The 18-day fair starts August 16th in Sacramento.
