SoCal Fire Gets Worse

Sponsored by:

Firefighters are losing some ground in their battle against a wildfire that´s burning in the mountains east of San Diego. The California Department of Forestry says the fire has burned more than 41,500 acres and is just 45% contained. That´s down from 80% containment reported earlier. Fire officials say the blaze picked up yesterday afternoon and burned rapidly to the northeast. There are 18 reported minor injuries to firefighters. A CDF spokeswoman says firefighters are working to keep flames away from the town of Ranchita and the approximately 340 residents have been evacuated. It is also threatening other small communities in the mountains north of the former mining town of Julian.
