Burning Man Video Suit Filed

Sponsored by:

Organizers of the free-wheeling Burning Man festival have gone to court to stop the sale of a video featuring participants in the altogether. The suit was filed yesterday in federal court in San Francisco.

It alleges that photographers for a company called Video Voyeur used a telephoto lens to film naked women at the festival in the Nevada desert. The films were then sold on the company´s web site.

The suit accuses the company of trespassing, invading the privacy of the women being filmed and violating Burning Man´s trademark. It also alleges Video Voyeur broke a rule on each event ticket that outlaws commercial use of pictures taken at the event without permission.

A hearing on the suit is set for August 16th – two weeks before this year´s festival is set to begin.
