Forestry Officials Seek Input On Darby Restoration

Stanislaus National Forest officials are seeking public comment concerning modifications proposed to the Darby Fire Fuel Reduction Project. The original plan was intended to reduce forest fuels and restore the eco-system of the 14,000 acre area that was burned last summer.

The new proposal, based on public input and analysis from forestry experts concludes that most of the proposed construction of new access roads within the area be stricken from the plan. The proposal also calls for an increase of dead and damaged tree removal from the area in order to address public safety issues as well as reduce the amount of combustible materials on hand.
