World Trade Center Rebuilt In Hawaii

A $100 million high-rise office tower being planned for a site across from Blaisdell Center would bear the World Trade Center name.

The tower would be part of larger mixed-use projection the mauka-ewa conference of Ward Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard.

The project would make use of the state´s World Trade Center franchise. The state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism is expected to sign an agreement today with Wholesale Motors, a Hawaii automobile dealer, and C-B Richard Ellis Hawaii, a real estate firm. Details are expected to be announced today.

The idea of a World Trade Center in Hawaii has been considered over the past 25 years at various sites. A luxury condominium project that was to be known as Symphony Park earlier had been planned for the two-point-four-acre site now planned for the trade tower.
