Millions Awarded In Construction Worker’s Death

Sponsored by:

A federal magistrate has ordered the U-S Navy to pay nearly five million dollars to the family of a Ukiah man who was electrocuted while working. The widow and two children of Robert McAsey will receive the money. McAsey was killed in June 1999 when his jackhammer hit a buried 4,100 volt line at Concord Naval Weapons Station. The accident happened a week before McAsey was set to retire from Dillingham Construction. The Navy had contracted the job and had missed the buried line during a check in the area.

U-S Magistrate James Larson awarded Mc-Asey´s widow $2.9 million and his son and daughter $900,000.00 apiece.
