State Contract Probe Continues

Sponsored by:

More than $2-billion worth of big ticket, no-bid deals have been signed by the state in the past three years.

The news comes as California officials are adopting new restrictions on no-bid contracts in response to an agreement by Davis administration officials to buy thousands of software licenses from Oracle.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that California agencies have signed more than 200 contracts for amounts of $2-million or more without competitive bidding since January 1999. The paper reports that almost $400-million worth of agreements were no-bid deals for computer technology or services, such as the Oracle software deal.
