Big Rig Crash Blocks Highway 88

A big rig accident near Kirkwood Ski Area shut down Highway 88 in Amador early this morning.
The Highway Patrol reports the cab completely smashed around the driver when the truck went off the roadway. A woman passenger was asleep in the sleeper cab at the time of the accident and was also trapped.
Cal Star air ambulance was called to transport the victims. There was no immediate report on the extent of injuries of the driver and passenger.
As of 9:30 a.m. this morning, the westbound lane of Highway 88 was still blocked with the wreckage.
