Final Election Results Released

The final “semi-official” results from Tuesday´s election are in. A spokeswoman for the Tuolumne County Elections office says the numbers are final but are not “official” until approved by the county Board of Supervisors. These numbers were released late yesterday.

In the Tuolumne Utilities District board race, Barbara Balen was the clear leader of the pack with over 22 and a half percent of the vote, with Jim Costello in second place.

But the real race was between incumbent Dr. Ralph Retherford and challenger Jim Nuzum. According to election tally figures released yesterday, Retherford beat Nuzum by only 72 votes to win his seat back on the TUD board.

In the Tuolumne Sanitary District board race Kevin Burns was the clear leader, but another squeaker was the battle for the second open seat — coming down to just a few votes. Charles “Moe” Mosley beat out Andy Robertson for the spot by only 4 votes!

In the Tuolumne County Board of Education race, Sherri Brennan was the winner with 51 percent of the vote over Candace Katosic´s 48.7 percent.

The clear winner in the Bellview School board race — Michael Tennyson with nearly 61 percent of the vote. Marjorie Jones topped the list in the Curtis Creek School board race, followed by Charlie Huffman winning the second board seat.

In the Sonora Elementary School Board election, Jeanie Smith pulled in the most votes with over 29 percent. Winning the second open seat was Joyce Lupo with nearly 25 percent of the vote.

In the 4-year position on the Groveland Community Services district, Craig Maxwell garnered 31 and a half percent of the vote while Joseph Crivello won the second seat with 29 percent of the vote.

The 2-year slot went to Don Myers, topping the vote tally nearly 41 and a half percent of the votes.
