TUD Candidates Get Into Debates

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne Utilities District board candidates gathered for an informal question and answer session during the Sonora Sunrise Rotary breakfast meeting this morning.

The five candidates fielded questions about Lyons Dam, public health issues with the drinking water supply, waste water uses and whether or not the vintage water ditches should be piped, amoung other topics.

The T.U.D. candidates will face-off again next week at a Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce sponsored debate. The Chamber of commerce is hosting the event, and chamber president George Segarini says dancing around the questions isn´t going to work. “Anytime that a panelist asking a question is not satisfied with the response or didn´t think the response answered what the question was, he can go ahead and question that particular candidate again,” he said.

Segarini says its going to be a pretty standard format. “I did want to emphasise that the public is invited to participate, be there and listen to the candidates,” He said the public can also ask questions of the candidates as well, submitted that night in written form

The Chamber forum is Wednesday, Oct. 8 beginning at 6 at the county administration building in Downtown Sonora.

Local radio station AM 1450 KVML will air a live T.U.D. candidates forum from their studios in Sonora on Oct. 28 from 1-to-2:30 p.m. The election for the TUD board is Nov. 4.
