Survey: Gas Prices Down

Sponsored by:

The price of a gallon of gas is going down, sliding more than 10 cents per gallon in the last two weeks, according to a recent survey. Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of self-serve gas was at a $1.65, according to a survey of 8,000 stations. A gallon of regular in downtown Sonora is $1.98.

The last time the Lundberg Survey was taken, on September 12, the price was 10.23 cents higher.

Prices are going down because supplies have increased since a broken pipeline in Arizona and the East Coast blackout created shortages during August. Analysts say the end of the summer vacation driving season has also eased pressure on prices, which should continue to fall in the coming days.
