Celtic Faire Comes To Sonora

Sponsored by:

Some of the biggest names in Celtic music will be in Sonora this weekend. It´s the First Annual Sonora Celtic Faire, Music Festival and West Coast Jousting Championships at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds

Event organizer Patrick Karnahan says coming from Ireland is the band “Dervish” and “Teada.” The band “Brother” hails from Australia. Other musical groups include Black Irish Band, Molly´s Revenge. Music workshops will also be offered throughout the weekend as well.

The highlight of the weekend will be the jousting competition. We´re not talking about a choreographed demonstration either. In this competition everyone´s playing for real. Knights in real armor on horseback take each other on in Medieval “extreme” sports.

The Celtic Faire will feature the clans of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwalp, a visit by the Queen along with food and drink and living history exhibits and marketplace.
