“Savage Nation” No Longer on TV

Sponsored by:

MSNBC has fired conservative San Francisco talk show host Michael Savage for making anti-gay comments.

The popular radio personality hosted a weekend TV show for the cable channel. He told a man who called his show Saturday that he was a “sodomite” who should “get AIDS and die.”

A spokesman for MSNBC says Savage´s remarks were “extremely inappropriate.”

Savage advocates closing borders, deporting illegal immigrants, requiring health tests for immigrants and eliminating entitlement programs. His brash, tough-talking style has won a large and loyal audience on radio. But his success was limited on television. He only marginally increased ratings in his time slot on MSNBC.

Savage apologized for his comments on his radio show.

But a spokeswoman for the gay rights group GLAAD says “it´s about time” he was fired.
