The Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey will be hosting a new Center for Homeland Defense and Security. The center will blend civilian and military anti-terrorism expertise.

The Justice Department is getting it rolling with an initial $15 million. The center will offer a master´s degree program. The first class of four military officers and ten civilians began yesterday.

Courses at the 93-year-old school will include protecting infrastructure, the vulnerability of wireless networks and the use of software decoys and other technology.

Another program will feature mobile education teams to educate state governors and their staffs about terrorism. The center expects to have some 60 students enrolled by September.
