A Jamestown woman shot in the head early Monday morning is expected to live.

Tuolumne County Sheriff Lt. John Steely says 29 year-old shooting victim Melissa Berry of Jamestown has undergone emergency surgery at a Modesto Hospital and should recover from her wounds.

Her companion, 34-year-old Donald Graham Hopkins, wasn´t so lucky. Hopkins also lived at the apartment on the 10000 block of Preston Lane. He was found dead on the floor when deputies arrived just after 1:30 a.m. yesterday morning.

Steely says investigators have confirmed reports that two persons were seen fleeing the apartment at the same time of the shooting.

Unconfirmed information gathered by AM 1450 KVML this morning revealed those same suspects may have been captured on surveillance camera video at a Jamestown-area mini mart sometime that night. Investigators are going to be checking that video.
