Time To Get Ready For Summer’s Fire Season

Sponsored by:

The wildfire season is still months away but state fire officials are already urging rural homeowners to get a jump on the dry weather ahead.

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is telling residents to take steps to reduce the risk to their homes and property. The lack of heavy snow this year could make things just as bad and even worse tan last year.

State wildfire prevention experts have a number of recommendations to reduce the fuel that feeds fire. They suggest things like landscaping with fire-resistant plants, cleaning dry conifer needles from roofs and rain gutters, pruning trees to eliminate “fuel ladders” for flames, and replacing wood shake roofs with fire-resistant material.
