Governors Commited to Commerce Across the Border

Governor Davis and the governor of Mexico´s Baja California state are stressing the need to keep the visitors and commerce moving across the international border during these times of heightened security.
They met in San Diego to discuss proposals they hope will both improve security and the flow of traffic through the border. Davis said California would make several suggestions to the Department of Homeland Security, including expansion of the SENTRI program which allows frequent commuters to bypass long lines at the border.
The two states also will begin sharing non-classified security information with one another. Davis noted that Mexico is California´s top trade partner.
