Oregon Firm Working Overtime To Make POW Bracelets

Sponsored by:

Hundreds of callers from across the country and Canada are seeking bracelets similar to the POW/MIA bracelets worn during the Vietnam War. Owners of Salem Trophy have cranked up two large machines running nonstop to turn out 100 bracelets an hour.

Mike Gaiser, the store€™s co-owner says they have sold close to 1,000 bracelets. The Operation Iraqi Freedom bracelets benefit the program that supports family members of the National Guard€™s 12-49th Engineer Battalion. Ninety percent of the proceeds from the lightweight bracelets will go to support needy families of deployed Oregon National Guard members. They cost $8 to $11. Personalized versions may carry the names of deployed soldiers or those missing in action.
