Memorial Services at Camp Pendleton

Hundreds gathered at the Camp Pendleton Chapel for 2 memorial services, 1 for a Marine killed in the early days of the war and another for a helicopter crew killed Sunday.

30 year old Second Lieutenant Therrel Childers of Mississippi died March 21st after being shot in the abdomen in an assault on a pumping station in Iraq. He was from the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment based at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base.

A service also was held for 31 year old Captain Aaron Contreras of Oregon, 23 year old Sergeant Michael Lalush of Virginia and 23 year old Sergeant Brian McGinnis Delaware. The 3, who were assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169, were killed when their UH1N Huey crashed Sunday at a supply and refueling point.
