Calaveras Transit in Trouble

Transit in Calaveras County is in trouble. In a split decision this week, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors chose not to renew an agreement with the Calaveras Council of Governments that would have sustained transit service until the middle of 2007.
Supervisors also postponed making a decision on hiring a new company to manage the buses. The county´s contract with the company that hires drivers and maintains the buses, Laidlaw, runs out in June.
