Accused Cop Killer Will Stand Trial

The Washington state man accused in the ambush killing of a Red Bluff police officer has been ordered to stand trial for first-degree murder. A Tehama County judge ruled yesterday there is sufficient evidence to try Andrew Hampton Mickel, also known as Andrew McCrae, for allegedly shooting Dave Mobilio as he refueled his patrol car last November.
The 31-year-old Mobilio died at a gasoline station after being shot three times, including once in the head. Mickel was extradited to California from New Hampshire, where he surrendered to Concord police on November 27th after a standoff inside a hotel.Mickel has pleaded innocent. His next court appearance in June ninth.
